Luke O'Nien was given his first pre-season outing, having recovered from the dislocated shoulder that kept him out against Hearts last weekend and York City in midweek.
His inclusion at left-back, replacing Tyrese Dyce, was one of five changes made by Lee Johnson to the side that drew at the York Community Stadium.
Anthony Patterson started in goal ahead of Lee Burge, while Carl Winchester returned at right-back in place of Ollie Younger.
Aiden O'Brien came into the side in place of Aiden McGeady, who was absent from the matchday squad, and Jack Diamond - who spent a loan spell at Harrogate the season before last and helped the club win promotion to League Two - came in for the injured Lynden Gooch.
Will Grigg was back in the squad after recovering from a stomach virus, but was amongst the substitutes.
New signing Alex Pritchard has sat out the pre-season programme after contracting Covid, but he had recovered sufficiently to travel with the squad to Wetherby Road although he was not on the teamsheet.
