The two-year restoration of Harrods food halls passed another milestone today when the wraps came off a new culinary destination at the store.
The former meat and fish hall, once filled with fresh food counters, has been turned into a dining hall.
The Grade II* listed space, known for its Twenties art deco tiles, has reopened after a three-month closure with a fish bar, a meat grill, a pasta bar, a sushi bar and a new central wine bar.
There is also a 26-seater Indian restaurant, Kama by Vineet, overseen by chef Vineet Bhatia.
“The new Dining Hall is a dynamic, live experience celebrating the exceptional level of talent and service our team of 150-in house chefs and servers deliver daily to our discerning customers,” said Andy Cook, executive chef at Harrods.
“Each menu offers a modern, seasonal and relevant take on traditional dishes as well new and bespoke house cocktails, all made in-house with the finest ingredients in the world.”
Bhatia’s restaurant will serve regional Indian dishes including thali plates and a selection of curries, while the Sushi Bar will produce speciality nigiri with sauces including truffle yuzu.
The Fish Bar will boast a menu of sustainable British seafood from the store’s Fresh Market Hall, with dishes ranging from Harrods fish and chips to ceviche and a catch of the day.
The Grill will focus on fine meats including wagyu beef, rotisserie chicken and seasonal, with steaks cooked to order over a charcoal grill.
The dining hall will open from 11.30am to 9pm daily.
