Harrison Ford tells starstruck Indiana Jones fan that he's character's stunt double

Hollywood superstar Harrison Ford told a young fan he was Indiana Jones’s stunt double after being spotted in North Yorkshire.

Evan Laven, eight, was amazed to see the actor in costume as the swashbuckling archaeologist.

Ford, 78, had emerged from a tunnel in the village of Grosmont, where scenes for the fifth Indy movie are being filmed.

Evan’s mum Vicki, a deputy head teacher in nearby Staithes, said of the acting legend’s response to her son’s question: “He tipped his hat and said no, he was the stunt double.

“It was absolutely amazing, it really made my son’s day.

“He came out of the tunnel in his full gear – I couldn’t speak.”

She said of her gobsmacked son: “He couldn’t believe that Harrison Ford had just spoken to him.”

Ford was also spotted wearing cycling gear having a pub meal in North Shields, North Tyneside, on Tuesday.

Alex Liddell was at the Ship’s Cat in North Shields when she saw Ford tucking into sea bass and mussels.

The 30-year-old said: “He looked like he was enjoying himself but I don’t think he wanted any attention.”

Filming is thought to be planned for Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland, temporarily closed to the public.

Carl Les, leader of North Yorkshire County Council, said the new Indy movie would “help present
North Yorkshire to an international audience”.

Tom Cruise has also been seen on location in North Yorkshire recently, filming a Mission Impossible movie.
