Harrison Ford takes thinly veiled swipe at Donald Trump over climate change

Harrison Ford has taken a thinly veiled swipe at Donald Trump over climate change.

Speaking on the final day of the World Government Summit in Dubai, the Star Wars actor said those who “deny or denigrate science” will end up on the wrong side of history.

“Around the world, elements of leadership — including in my own country — to preserve their state and the status quo, deny or denigrate science,” he said. “They are on the wrong side of history.”

Ford went on to call on governments to trust science – a comment that comes just days after Trump asked ”what the hell is going on with Global Warming?” on Twitter.

“We are faced [with] what I believe is the greatest moral crisis of our time,” Ford added. “That those least responsible for nature’s destruction will suffer the greatest consequences.”

Speaking to CNN before the talk, Ford said that institutes around the world were not doing enough to combat climate change.

“I don’t know what the answer to it is, but the start of the answer is to elect people who believe in science,” he said.

“This current government is bent on dismantling all of the gains we’ve made in the protection of the environment, in human health.”

Trump has, on multiple occasions, made clear he does not believe in climate change.
