Harrison Ford appears to have given away a major plot twist in upcoming space opera epic Star Wars: The Force Awakens, namely that Daisy Ridley’s Rey engages in a lightsaber battle with the movie’s key villain.
Asked to name his favourite scene in JJ Abrams’ film, Ford said he liked “the sword fight with Rey and Kilo Ren”(sic), describing the episode as “fantastic visual storytelling”.

@starwars Is this Ford trolling or is this a MAJOR spoiler?

In trailers thus far it has been John Boyega’s Finn picking up the lightsaber to take on Adam Driver’s Ren, a Darth Vader-worshipping frontman for the nefarious First Order. Rey has been seen carrying a long staff, which would presumably be of little use in a fight with a laser sword-wielding opponent.
The apparent spoiler has further significance, as those who wield lightsabers in Star Wars movies are usually strong with the Force. And there have been rumours that Rey might be a scion of the Skywalker clan, which has produced Jedi knights Luke and Anakin Skywalker, whose stories were told in previous episodes.
In other Star Wars news, saga creator George Lucas has seen the new film and liked it so much he will be attending the movie’s premieres in Los Angeles and London, according to producer Kathleen Kennedy.
Lucas has given mixed messages about The Force Awakens, which he had no involvement with, suggesting in interviews that he is “curious about what happened to Darth Vader’s grandkids”, but hopes the force “doesn’t get muddled into a bunch of gobbledegook”. Kennedy said her former colleague “really liked” the new episode and confirmed he would be attending the premiere in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. However, she admitted it had been tough for Lucas “watching this go on without his direct involvement,” adding: “At the same time, he really wanted to step away.”
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released in the UK on 17 December, then a day later in the US. The film’s world premiere is due to take place in Los Angeles on December 14, with the UK premiere in London on 16 December.
