Billionaires are a problem. Men like Elon Musk, who may be the first trillionaire to ever exist, are destroying the world one paycheck at a time. And Harrison Ford blames billionaires for a lot of our issues right now (and he’s right).
Harrison Ford did a cover story for Variety that highlighted his success with shows like 1923 and Shrinking as he is celebrating an Emmy nomination for his work. During the conversation, Ford spoke about the unrest in our country and pointed out that the disconnect between people is coming from the rich. As Ford says, it isn’t right that the rich just keep on getting richer.
“In politics and in life, you don’t always get what you want, but you get what you get and you don’t get upset. They teach us that in kindergarten, but they also teach you to fight for what you think is right,” he told the publication. “Now, because we’ve been disaggregated in this way, we’re having a hard time finding commonality. But if you look at the economy, you’ll figure out where the commonality is — it’s where it always was: Rich get richer, and poor get poorer. And that ain’t exactly right.”
As Pajiba pointed out, Ford and comedian Bill Burr both blamed the current unrest on the pay gap within the United States and that’s the truth! The wealth disparity in the US is so bad that people who have been struggling are being tricked BY billionaires and told “we’ll look out for you” and then they don’t.
This last election had the lower class voting for Donald Trump, who was backed by Elon Musk. The two are roughly worth 420 billion dollars between the two of them. And these individuals thought BILLIONAIRES would care about them?
No one should have as much money as these people do
Billionaires shouldn’t exist and if you don’t agree with that statement, you’re probably one of them. Or at least rich enough that you don’t care how much money someone else has. That’s the problem. No one realizes how being a billionaire hurts people. All the money that you have, that you’re hoarding, is money that people cannot have.
You know why Musk has that much money? The starting salary of Tesla employees starts around $55k. If my BOSS had that much money and I was making pennies…
I understand building yourself up and growing your own wealth. I too would like to one day not have debt. But the fact that there are people in this would who could solve a multitude of issues throughout the world with their wealth and STILL have money for themselves says a lot. Your billions could change lives and instead, you’re using it to keep only yourself happy.
If Harrison Ford, who loves to make jokes about how much money he wants for his projects, can point out that billionaires are the problem, then you know that there really is something wrong with them.
