Marcus Harris' magic touch has continued at Drummoyne Oval, where the opener snaffled a one-handed catch to help Victoria reduce NSW to 5-66 at lunch on the final day of the Sheffield Shield clash.
Friday's centuries from Harris and Peter Handscomb put their side in the box seat for victory in Sydney, while also sending a timely reminder of their talent to national selectors.
NSW, set a target of 339 when Handscomb declared late on day three, resumed at 1-33 on Saturday morning.
Captain Kurtis Patterson, opener Matthew Gilkes, nightwatchman Harry Conway and young batter Jason Sangha departed in the opening session as the visitors turned the screws.
Gilkes was victim to a sharp piece of fielding from Harris at gully, having struck the ball powerfully but watched it lodge in the incumbent Test opener's outstretched left hand.
It was in stark contrast to the previous day when Gilkes was stationed in the same position and failed to hold onto a relatively straightforward chance offered by Harris on 66.
Harris went on to score a match-changing 137, spending seven and a half hours at the crease in an eye-catching Ashes audition.
Scott Boland captured the key wicket of Patterson, who loomed as the Blues' most imposing source of resistance, with a delivery that kept low and struck off stump.
Boland, who claimed 4-34 in NSW's first dig, also removed Gilkes on day four.
Sean Abbott and Jack Edwards, unbeaten on seven and five respectively, have negotiated 11 overs for NSW.
