Harlequins complete the greatest comeback in Premiership history in semi-final against Bristol after 100 minutes of non-stop drama

It was joy for Welshmen Scott Baldwin and Adam Jones as Harlequins completed the greatest comeback in Premiership history in the semi-final against Bristol that lasted 100 minutes on Saturday afternoon.

Hooker Baldwin put in a top shift, lasting 76 minutes out in the middle with Quins scrum coach Jones watching on from the stands as his side completed a remarkable 43-36 victory.

Conversely, it was heartbreak for Bristol's Welshmen Callum Sheedy and Ioan Lloyd, who ended up on the wrong end of the ledger in a game that has been described as the best of the season.

The game looked over after 30 minutes after a rampant Bristol raced into a 28-0 lead thanks to tries from Ben Earl, Luke Morohan and two from Max Malins.

Welsh international Callum Sheedy had kicked over eight points and it was a long way back for the visitors.

Former Cardiff Met student Alex Dombrandt scored for Quins just before the break to give the visitors hope but it was a still a long way back.

They then scored 19 unanswered points in the first 15 minutes of the second half with tries coming from Tyrone Green, James Chisholm and Louis Lynagh.

A Sheedy penalty then stretched Bristol's lead out 31-24 as the game moved into the final quarter but there was still time for drama.

Joe Marchant crossed for a score five minutes from time and Marcus Smith clipped over the conversion, levelling the scores at 31-31, taking the game into extra time.

Bodies were left strewn all over the pitch during virtually every stoppage in extra time as muscles seized up.

Quins full-back Green went over for his second try in the 90th minute, with Smith's conversion putting his side seven points clear.

The hosts hit back immediately through Malins, who scored his hat-trick try in the 93rd minute. A draw would have been no good to Bristol due to the try count and Sheedy's rushed conversion hit the post.

Quins lead by two points heading into the closing moments as Bristol ended with 13 men, with Semi Radradra and Harry Thacker going off injured.

Marchant crossed for his second try of the match in the 99th minute to put the icing on the cake.
