Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri hoped on Tuesday that Beirut would not be dragged into a position in which it finds itself at odds with Saudi Arabia and the Arab Gulf.
“Relations with Arab countries should not be hostage to the whims and stance of some political powers,” he added in reference to recent controversial remarks by Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil.
Lebanon should not antagonize Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states and their leaders, he stressed, noting that “every household in Lebanon has someone who works in that region.”
Hariri hoped that Bassil would have retracted his statements sooner than he did.
Furthermore, he hoped the local political powers would ensure that the necessary conditions are available to welcome Arab tourists during the summer season.
