Hardworking teachers make selfless request over Christmas presents from students

Hardworking teachers at a Halewood primary school have made a selfless request over end of term Christmas gifts.

It has become normal for children to buy presents for their teachers and school staff to show their appreciation before the winter break.

But this year, staff at St Mark's Catholic Primary School have asked parents and carers to consider making a donation in the community instead.

On their website the school, which is located on Fir Avenue, said: "We understand that many of our parents and carers wish to show their appreciation to our staff by buying gifts at Christmas.

"This year we would prefer to give back to the local community, so rather than buying our teachers gifts, please consider making a donation."

The post also included some suggestions of places that guardians could donate to that would benefit from help this Christmas.
