Japan's two medalists in swimming at the Tokyo Olympics held a press conference Monday to talk about the competition in the discipline that ended on Sunday.

"I never expected the Olympic Games would be so fun," said a beaming Yui Ohashi, 25, who won two gold medals in individual medley races. "I went through many hard times in the past five years, but I could make the most of them in the races."

She cited her turning skills, which she honed painstakingly, as the decisive factor for her victories. "I could put them to use very calmly," she said.

From now on during the Games, she said she would love to watch artistic swimming and athletics, among other events.

"[Yoshihide] Kiryu, who comes from my hometown, may run [in the athletics], so I'm looking forward to it," she added.

Tomoru Honda, 19, won the silver medal in men's 200-meter butterfly.

"I felt frustrated because there was a large gap between [the swimmer in ] the first place and myself. In Paris, I want to make a heated race with him," he said.
