Hardgate Primary School are lucky enough to have a forest across from the school which belongs to the nursery.
The teachers aim to take each class up weekly to make use of the natural surroundings and learn from the outdoors, with the first visit being made last week.
Children enjoyed den building, tree climbing, insect collecting and making things in the mud kitchen.
