Hardgate Primary pupil shocked as Queen replies to homemade birthday card

A Hardgate Primary School pupil has had a royal reply to a homemade birthday card he sent to the Queen.

Ollie Stewart and mum Lucie sent off his corgi-decorated card and thought no more about it.

But that changed when a specially-embossed envelope dropped through the letterbox.

Lucie said: “It was stamped on the front with Windsor Castle and I thought ‘Oh!’. We were amazed.

“Ollie had a home learning task set for him by his teacher and he chose to do a birthday card for the Queen.

“And because he likes dogs he drew a corgi on the front and asked a question about the Queen’s dogs.”

The Queen’s Lady-in-Waiting Susan Hussey told Ollie in the letter: “The Queen wishes to thank you for your splendid handmade card, and for the kind message you sent on the occasion of Her Majesty’s 94th birthday.

“The Queen is most grateful for your thoughtfulness at this time, and greatly appreciated the care you have taken to create your own card for Her Majesty.”
