'Hardest day ever' Sister of young Scots mum found dead in Tenerife posts heartbreaking Christmas tribute

The sister of a young mum who died suddenly in Tenerife said the first Christmas without her was the 'hardest day ever'.

Megan Brannan, 24, from Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, passed away while on holiday with her family at the Royal Sunset Beach Club in Costa Adeje on Monday, October 14.

The circumstances surrounding the hairstylist's death are unknown.

Yesterday Megan's sister, Toni Brannan, took to social media to send a message to her late sister, during the family's first Christmas without her.

Toni Brannan shared a touching post on Facebook (Facebook)

On Facebook Toni wrote: "Hardest day ever you not being here to watch your princess open her presents.

"To think this is just the first Christmas without you with many more to come breaks my heart into a million pieces.

"Merry Christmas beautiful."

Toni shared a photo of Megan's graveside alongside the tribute.

The heartbreaking post comes after a number of tributes to Megan over the festive season.

Earlier in the month Toni spoke out about how difficult Christmas would be without her 'caring, wonderful sister'.

She wrote: "The hardest part of grieving would have to be this part, when everyone who says they will be there for you disappears and moves on enjoying their lives and are getting ready to celebrate Christmas with their families.

"While your stuck in this horrible hole feeling so alone, not wanting to move out of bed and feeling jealous of everyone’s happiness and ability to be with their loved ones

"The only thing we want for Christmas is to have Megan by the tree with us."

Devastated loved ones rallied round to support Megan's family by organising an online fundraiser, where almost £2,000 was donated.
