Trolls published pornography on a secondary school Twitter feed.
An investigation has been launched after the hardcore images appeared on the Motherwell school's account.
The screengrabs of a naked couple having sex sparked a wave of responses when they appeared on Taylor High's page, the Daily Record reports.
North Lanarkshire Council insist the shocking pictures were removed as soon as they were brought to their attention.
The account has now been removed entirely.
A spokesman said: "We immediately took action as soon as we were made aware that a school social media account had been compromised and offensive material posted.
"The inappropriate material was removed and we apologise for any offence caused.
"We have taken immediate steps to investigate the security breach and will install further appropriate security measures."
