Hard-hitting coronavirus advert shows how virus can spread in the home

A new coronavirus advert shows how it can spread in the home.

The chilling video, released by the Scottish government, starts by showing a young woman greeting her granddad with a hug.

After giving each other a hug, the woman's granddad leaves the room and she makes him a cup of tea.

However, around her mouth is a green, sticky substance that represents coronavirus and by the time the tea has been made, the green substance has been spread all over his kitchen.

The grandfather is then seen saying "lovely cup of tea" and the virus is now all around his mouth.

The new advert has divided people on social media.

Some have praised the Scottish government for its "simple" message while others feel it is a bit too sinister.

One said: "Simple but excellent corona ad from the Scottish Government."

"Perfect advert for these not so perfect times," another added.

However another argued: "This is NOT excellent at all. Its dehumanizing degrading and alienating. Just as desired, make people fearful of others even their own family."

And another commented: "I find this advert by the Scottish government abhorrent almost another blame the young example. Creating more fear and anxiety and unease and making people fearful whether they could harm granny or grandad."
