Harbaugh on MSU curse chant: Thought it was 'Love Jim Harbaugh'

Jim Harbaugh can spin anything.

During Michigan's 32-23 win over Michigan State on Saturday at Spartan Stadium, the crowd used one time-out to drop an unpleasant chant about the Michigan coach, using a curse word followed by his name.

"F_ Jim Harbaugh" was clearly audible on the ESPN broadcast and in Harbaugh's ears.

"Yeah, I heard it, I heard it," he said on his weekly radio show, "Inside Michigan Football" before shifting into biting sarcasm. "I thought it was great and classy. I thought they were saying, 'Love Jim Harbaugh.' They kept repeating it, 'Love Jim Harbaugh, Love Jim Harbaugh.' I thought that's awful great sportsmanship by the Michigan State Spartans.

"The next day I read ESPN and they were saying it was, 'Frick Jim Harbaugh.' So I guess I've got to get my hearing checked. I could have sworn they were saying ' Love Jim Harbaugh.' "

World Series: Harbaugh, his wife and his parents attended the World Series Game 5 at Wrigley Field and Harbaugh of course had his glove like always, hoping to grab yet another loose baseball.

"Doesn't everybody?"

Harbaugh has corralled 21 foul balls in his life.

Sitting in left field, he almost had a chance at catching a home run hit by the Cleveland Indians' Jose Ramirez in the second inning.

"The first home run hit by the Indians probably landed ... 12 feet (away,)" Harbaugh said. "I'm up at the crack of the bat, I see it going. The problem was Sarah was right next to me and then there was a railing. So I said I just have to step up, over Sarah, onto the railing and over and I'm going to have a shot at this ball _ at least a richochet if the guy doesn't catch it clean."

But ...

"Then I'm like, wait, your wife is pregnant, she's due in February, think my man, think," Harbaugh said. "So I waited for a long ricochet that never came."
