'Har bar knockouts mai choke': Sanju Samson draws flak after yet another flop show in IPL play-off game

NEW DELHI: As Rajasthan Royals' Sanju Samson perished to a part-timer Abhishek Sharma for a lowly 10 (11) the Qualifier 2 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai on Friday, the skipper attracted sharp criticism on social media for his underwhelming performance in the knock-out game.

Samson, who has had a poor record in IPL playoffs, continued his torrid run in the knockouts and drew flak from fans.

In chase of a tricky 176 against Sunrisers, Samson fell in the 9th over, leaving his side in a disarray.

After scoring a mere 17 in the Eliminator against RCB, another flop show from Samson made his playoffs record even worse.

Since 2013, Samson has just a single half-century in 9 IPL play-off matches that also include 6 scores below 20.

Earlier, pace duo of Trent Boult and Avesh Khan snapped three wickets each but SRH managed to post a competitive 175 for nine.

Apart from Boult (3/45) and Avesh Khan (3/27), Sandeep Sharma (2/25) also claimed two wickets after RR won the toss and elected to bowl.

For SRH, Heinrich Klaasen top-scored with a 34-ball 50, while Travis Head (34), Rahul Tripathi (37) got starts but couldn't stay longer.

Shahbaz Ahmed's run-a-ball 18 gave them a little push in the end.
