Happy to lead an accountable Celtics to a win against the Suns, Robert Williams III says the tilt was a ‘respect game’

Very few if any fans or analysts expected to see Boston Celtics big man Robert Williams III lead the charge against the (at that time) NBA-best Phoenix Suns on the way to a 123 – 108 blowout that belies the strength of the Celtics effort after a long spate of winnable games the team had failed to mount focused efforts.

But connected play and intensity on both ends of the court held together with some of the best ball movement the team has yet to demonstrate this season helped secure the unexpected win, with Timelord’s career-high 10 assists and his first triple-double in the NBA no small part of the reason why. Asked by the press after the win what was behind the renewed energy driving Boston to the win, and the Texas A&M product pointed to a new emphasis on intra-team accountability.

“We’ve just been questioning each other, honestly,” explained Williams, “not even in a bad way.”
