Today marks 103 years since the birth of one of the most famed children's writers, Roald Dalh.

The acclaimed author was born in Cardiff, in 1916.

His stories captured the hearts and imaginations of children and adults across the globe, making him the world's number one storyteller.

Many of his books have been adapted into movie blockbusters, plays and musicals.

Before becoming a children's writer Dahl served in the Royal Air Force during WWII where he became an intelligence officer.

Dahl passed away in 1990 of a rare blood cancer called Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). He was 74-years-old.

His stories live on and his legacy has stood the test of time.
