'Happy here' - The key to getting best out of Nottingham Forest winger

A settled Anthony Knockaert is starting to find some form for Nottingham Forest - but boss Chris Hughton still wants more.

The Fulham winger had something of a quiet start to his loan spell at the City Ground in the first half of the season.

He joined the club in October, as the only one of the Reds’ 14 summer signings to arrive after Hughton took charge.

But since signing an extension to that deal in January, he has shown more of the talent he clearly possesses.

Hughton says that comes with the 29-year-old feeling “happy” and enjoying playing regular football - with Saturday’s defeat at Watford his 28th appearance in the Garibaldi.

GARIBALDI RED: Would Forest playing two strikers get them scoring more goals?

With Forest still struggling for goals, however, the Forest manager is keen for Knockaert to play his part.

“He’s good around the place and I get the feeling he’s very happy here. But I think that comes down to playing regularly,” Hughton said.

“In the end he had a difficult time at Fulham, in regards getting the consistency of games he would like and the fact they were prepared to let him go out on loan.

“I think we’re starting to see him being more comfortable and getting back to playing regular Championship games.

“I know Anthony well enough and the position he plays - that can come with ups and downs, and good spells and spells where you’re not doing so well.

“I’m really pleased with his contribution.

“What we can get from him is always more goals and assists, but his general contribution has been good.”
