A pack of Beaver Scouts brought their camping skills indoors because they could not meet as a group.
Usually in January the 1st Kinross Beaver Scouts have their winter sleepover at the Scout Hall, however, due to current restrictions that was not possible this year.
So instead the Beavers held a sleepover at home where they had to build a den or put up a tent and sleep in it overnight.
Whilst participating in the sleepover, group members took part in a variety of activities such as making a marshmallow fork, learning about global warming by making earth mallows and then roasting them on a campfire, and making pizzas and tin can popcorn.
The Beavers also did a lava lamp experiment, had some fun with their families by having a balloon volleyball competition and they stepped into shoes of young people from around the world by making a recycled football.
On the Saturday morning they were joined on Zoom by Sarah from Letsbefit who put them through their paces with a morning boot camp.
It was certainly an action-packed weekend for the Beavers and in addition to all of this, they also took part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch and submitted their results on the RSPB website.
Leader with the 1st Kinross Beaver Scouts Daryl Scott said: “COVID-19 may have stopped us having meetings in the hall at present but that does not mean that Scouting stops as well.
“To help keep the Beavers from Kinross connected during this challenging time the Beaver leadership team decided to host virtual meetings every week as well as encouraging the Beavers to take part in the winter sleepover at home.
“This gives the Beavers the opportunity to continue to experience Scouting, developing new skills and lets them catch-up with their friends, giving them a bit of normality in an uncertain time.”
