A popular young footballer sent an emotional text message to his girlfriend just hours before he took his own life, an inquest heard.
Saul Ronan Lee told her he was "sorry for everything" before admitting "it's so harder to let you go".
The 22 year-old, who played Futsal for the Huddersfield Town Academy until he suffered an injury, was found dead in a grassed area in Ravensthorpe, West Yorkshire on the morning of October 9 last year.
An inquest heard that Saul was a popular young man who had been looking forward to going to the races and was enjoying his new job, YorkshireLive reports.
Saul's devastated parents, Terence and Frances, described their son as a popular individual with a large network of friends in Mirfield, where he grew up, and the wider area. Around 400 people had attended his funeral.

The inquest heard that Saul had been his usual "happy bubbly self" the night before his death, where he met friends at the pub.
A friend explained he hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary during the night, and received a text shortly before 2am in which Saul said he loved him and would see him soon.
The inquest heard that it was normal for the friends to exchange such messages.
Assistant coroner Angela Brocklehurst also read out a text which Saul had sent to a girlfriend the evening before his death.
In the text, Saul said: “I hate myself. I put everything in to make you happy and it didn’t work.
“I ain’t good enough for anyone, I know. I’m s***, no ambitions, no nothing, but I love more than anyone.

“I’ll be the person I wannabe in time. I’m sorry for everything. I care about you more than cared about anyone.
“It’s so harder to let you go.”
The coroner said there was “something preying on his mind” but it was not possible to say what he was thinking, adding: “There are lots of things about this death we don’t know about.”
Saul, who had no history of mental health issues, had been two months into a new job as a trainee machine setter which he was enjoying, his dad said. He had previously worked as a lifeguard at Dewsbury sports centre.
Saul had previously said when speaking about suicide that he couldn't understand why someone would do such a thing, his dad told the inquest.
A post mortem examination found that Saul had a high level of alcohol in his system and was likely to be intoxicated. The pathologist said the cause of death was hanging.
The coroner told Saul's family: "Please accept my sympathies and condolences for your terrible loss.
"This is a tragedy, more so because Saul was such a young man with so much in front of him.
"I can't answer the question why. I don't know whether anybody can. We never know what's inside the mind of another person.
"But it is such a waste and a tragedy."
