Happy 75th birthday to Broncos owner Pat Bowlen!

Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen turned 75 years old on Monday. Bowlen, who purchased the team from Edgar Kaiser in 1984, had to step down from day-to-day operations in 2014 to continue his battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Since Bowlen stepped down, team president/CEO Joe Ellis has handled the business side of the Broncos’ operations and president of football operations/general manager John Elway has handled the on-field operations.

Bowlen was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this month and he will be enshrined in Canton, Ohio, in August. Former Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey will join Bowlen in this year’s Hall of Fame class.

Under Bowlen’s ownership, Denver is tied with the second-best record (354-240-1) and winning percentage (.596) in the NFL. The Broncos have had 21 winning seasons, 18 playoff appearances, 13 division titles, nine conference championship appearances and seven Super Bowl berths under Bowlen.

Bowlen has won three Super Bowls and he is the only owner in NFL history to reach the Super Bowl with four different head coaches.
