It must have seemed like a great idea. With Liverpool enjoying its annual festival of comedy and the Liverpool Echo's editor on holiday, why not invite a series of comics to be guest editors? The result was one of the longest, and funniest, morning conferences in history with Liverpool's most famous comedian, Ken Dodd, in the chair. "It was mayhem", said assistant editor Andrew Edwards. But Dodd came up with such a seriously good idea - a "happiness page" - that it's going to be a regular feature in the Echo. Other comic editors included Stan Boardman and Faith Brown. The comedians' editorial conferences were filmed and posted on the Echo's website. Dodd's one has to be seen!. (Via holdthefrontpage.co.uk)
