East Renfrewshire has been named as the happiest place to live in Scotland.
A study examined eight measures thought to be linked to happiness, including life expectancy, crime levels and earnings.
The posh suburban area near Glasgow topped the Scots list, compiled by Royal Mail, with its high placing in the earnings index pushing it to No1.
Average income in the local authority area is higher than 90 per cent of those in the UK.
East Dunbartonshire was ranked second in the Scots list, thanks to its low levels of crime and good access to health services.
Aberdeenshire came third, also scoring well for health services.

Stirling, in fourth place, was found to have a good level of earnings compared with other council areas in Scotland. The Borders took the next position, with the second lowest level of crime, followed closely by Midlothian and East Lothian.
Highland, South Ayrshire and the Shetland Islands made up the top 10.
Highland had the joint highest score for reported well-being across the UK, while the Shetland Islands’ low crime rate and low deprivation levels scored well.

South Ayrshire finished in ninth position with a strong performance in access to local services.
Winchester, in Hampshire, was declared the happiest place to live in the UK.
A Royal Mail spokeswoman said: “This new study takes a look at the areas across the UK sparking the most joy.
“For people across the UK looking to live in or visit the happiest places, there are plenty to choose from.”
