GANGNEUNG -- After winning his second straight Olympic gold, Yuzuru Hanyu wanted to express his gratitude to his supporters -- and to his right leg.
"I want to thank everybody -- not limited to skating -- who helped me develop," the 23-year-old said after winning the men's figure skating title at the Pyeongchang Olympics on Saturday.
Hanyu had not taken part in any competitions since injuring his right ankle in November. "I'm relieved I was able to skate after receiving support from many people," he said. "My right leg worked really hard [today.] I need to thank it."
