An exhibition about the brilliant career of two-time Olympic gold medalist Yuzuru Hanyu opened Wednesday at the Takashimaya department store in Tokyo's Nihonbashi district.

Visitors can peruse the 23-year-old figure skater's achievements, and get a glimpse of his life outside the skating rink, through about 200 exhibits. This number includes more than 100 photos ranging from Hanyu's junior days to his winning the second of his back-to-back Olympic titles at the Pyeongchang Games in February.

Most of the photos are from coverage by The Yomiuri Shimbun, but some were taken by famous photographers including Kishin Shinoyama. There are also panels of enlarged newspaper pages reporting Hanyu's victories. Other exhibits include his costumes, costume designs and video footage of his interviews.

A long queue of fans, mostly women, formed in front of the department store hours before the doors opened.

The exhibition, titled "Thank you for your support! Yuzuru Hanyu exhibition," is organized by The Yomiuri Shimbun and supported by the Japan Skating Federation. It will continue in Tokyo through April 23 before touring six cities across the country.

The venue includes a curtained-off area where visitors can watch a two-minute slide show featuring key moments of his career. The display uses projection mapping and is called Big Book, as it looks like a large book with pages that turn automatically to show different photos.
