Hansi Flick explains Michael Cuisance absence after Leeds United linked to Bayern Munich star

Leeds United appear to have been handed a boost amid rumours they are in advanced talks to sign Michael Cuisance.

French outlet L'Equipre (via Fabrizio Romano) has reported the Whites are in negotiations with Bayern Munich over the midfielder.

The highly-rated 21-year-old is said to have already agreed personal terms at Elland Road, with Leeds offering Bayern €20m for his signature.

Bayern's team selection for Sunday's Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim certainly raised eyebrows, with Cuisance nowhere to be seen in the squad.

It could well suggest that the Frenchman is on his way out of the European champions.

Bayern crashed to a shock 4-1 defeat against Hoffenheim, ending a run of 23 successive victories.

With Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Perisic's loans coming to an end over the summer and Thiago joining Liverpool, it looked set to be a big season for Cuisance at Bayern Munich after he struggled for first-team football last year.

That makes the fact he was not named in Hansi Flick's squad even more surprising.

Flick said post-match that he had chosen Jamal Musiala over Cuisance for tactical reasons.

He said: "Musiala was in the squad instead of Cuisance because he did very well recently."

Marseille have also been linked with the former Borussia Monchengladbach star but, if reports from France are correct, Leeds are favourites for his signature.

That is due to Marseille only being able to take the playmaker on loan, whilst Leeds are offering a permanent transfer.
