Hanover Street assault: Edinburgh cops launch appeal after man hospitalised with serious facial injury

Edinburgh cops have released images of a man they wish to speak to in relation to a serious assault in the city centre.

The incident took place around 2.50am on Thursday, 20 February 2020, on Hanover Street.

A 37-year-old man was assaulted and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he was treated for a serious facial injury.

The man pictured is described as white, aged 18-25, of slim build with short light brown hair. He was wearing a dark coloured floral patterned short sleeved shirt and dark trousers.

Police in Edinburgh believe that he may be able to assist with their enquiries in relation to the serious incident.

Detective Sergeant Berry of Gayfield CID said: "The attack left the victim with a serious facial injury which required hospital treatment. I would urge anyone with information relating to the man in the CCTV images to contact police as soon as possible."
