Hanover 99 goes under complete refurbishment as the bar rebrands post lockdown

Hanover 99 has revealed it will be going under a huge rebranding as the bar emerges from lockdown.

The popular Edinburgh watering hole has been a staple of Hanover Street for over four years, with its range of drinks and chic interior proving a hit with locals.

However, today owners Juan José Castillo Castro and partner Vanessa Alfano have announced that the bar will be rebranding as 'Superico'.

Hanover 99 will also have a completely new image, with the inside of the bar entirely refurbished during lockdown to match the new name.

The new image will also stretch over the the couple's sister bar and restaurant, 83 Hanover Street, with the new signage to be unveiled this week as the sites reopen to customers.

Translating loosely to 'super tasty', Superico will take over the Hanover Street name, with Juan stating:

“We spent a long time brainstorming a name for what we anticipate will be a group of venues, and I just kept coming back to this favourite expression of mine from childhood. I used super to enhance anything I really liked. It captures the vibe of what we’re aiming for. It’s upbeat, positive and fun.”

Superico Bar & Lounge will announce opening plans and details of their offering later this week.
