Hannes Wolf Celtic transfer option emerges as Austrian playmaker 'tracked' ahead of loan swoop battle

Celtic are eyeing a January swoop for Borussia Monchengladbach playmaker Hannes Wolf according to reports in Germany.

Ange Postecoglou looks set to have a busy January with the likes of Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda tipped for a move to the Scottish Premiership.

But BILD state that Celtic are among a host of clubs tracking the Austrian midfielder Wolf ahead of the winter window.

Trabzonspor and Rapid Vienna have also been linked with a move for the 22-year-old who has struggled for minutes in the Bundesliga this season.

Last term he was a regular for the Germans while on loan from RB Leipzig, which led to Monchengladbach making the deal permanent.

Despite splashing £8.1million out on Wolf in the summer, it appears they are willing to allow the versatile player to leave on loan until the summer.

Adi Hütter, who arrived took over as boss earlier this season, has not given the youngster game time in the last seven games and he appears to be well down the pecking order.

Wolf may be familiar to Celtic fans having played against the club back in 2018 while on the books of RB Salzburg.

As it stands, T om Rogic is holding down the playmaker role at Parkhead but has been plagued by injuries this season.
