Hannah Cifers will be jumping in as a replacement just two weeks removed from her last fight.
Melissa Gatto has been forced out of Saturday’s UFC event, and Cifers will step in to face Mariya Agapova. MMA Junkie confirmed the news following an initial report from Combate.
The UFC’s Saturday event, set for the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, hasn’t been formally approved by the Nevada Athletic Commission but is expected to be later Monday.
After scoring back-to-back wins over Polyana Viana and Jodie Esquibel, Cifers (10-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC) has dropped her last two fights, most recently losing by first-round submission to Mackenzie Dern on May 30. She will look to avoid a three-fight losing streak when she faces newcomer Agapova.
Kazakhstan’s Agapova (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) suffered her first professional loss to Tracey Cortez on Dana White’s Contender Series last July but eventually signed with the UFC earlier this year after scoring two consecutive first-round finishes with Invicta FC.
