Hanna on Amazon Prime: What is it about? How can I watch it? What you need to know about the series

Eight years after a film of the same name, Hanna is ready to drop on Amazon Prime to fill any drama-shaped holes in your streaming life.

The thriller follows a teenage girl, called Hanna, who works tirelessly to try and uncover everything she can about her true identity all while running from a rogue CIA agent.

The first episode was made available on Prime Video for 24 hours shortly after the series was teased during the Super Bowl back in February.

Now, the eight-episode drama is on the streaming platform and ready for binge-watching. Here’s what you should know…

Lead: Edme Creed-Miles stars as Hanna (Amazon Prime)

What is Hanna about?

The subscription-only drama is heavily based on a film called Hanna, a 2011 hit with Saoirse Ronan and Cate Blanchett in the leads.

In the film – and indeed the drama – Hanna is a 15-year-old girl who goes to great lengths to discover the truth about herself and what her purpose is. But her quest for the ultimate truth and self-love isn’t as easy as it seems because an off-book CIA agent called Marissa Wiegler is hot on her tail, tracking her down and desperate to keep her from revealing the secrets she learned at a young age from her ex-agent dad.

Hanna: The drama is available now (Amazon Prime)

The drama is expected to be much the same, just spread out over eight hours across different episodes instead of being presented as a feature length film. The synopsis describes Hanna as an “extraordinary girl trying to unearth the truth behind who she is”.

Who stars in Hanna?

Esme Creed-Miles stars as the titular role with Mireille Enos playing the CIA agent on her back every step of the way.

Joel Kinnaman appears as Hanna’s dad Erik, Rhianne Barreto stars as Sophie and Joanna Kulig is Johanna.

How can I watch Hanna?

Hanna is available on Amazon Prime Video, included with a Prime subscription to the company.
