The North Wing of Haneda Airport Terminal 1 reopened in full on Wednesday after a 2-1/2-month closure amid the novel coronavirus.

Japan Airlines Co. resumed operations in the North Wing, where its domestic flights arrive and depart, and which had been closed since April 17 because of a reduction in flights.

Check-in procedures and other processes had been consolidated to the South Wing of the airport.

Mask-wearing office workers toted their luggage as they passed through security checkpoints one by one in the North Wing before boarding planes.

All Nippon Airways Co. also partially reinstated operations at Haneda Airport Terminal 2, where the company operates its domestic service.

Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways have brought the number of flights back up to about 50% of their original number, and the amount of passengers has also been steadily increasing, according to both companies.
