Handwritten message on van that's making drivers stop to notice

A message written on a white van which was spotted being driven through Birkenhead has made a huge impression on locals.

The van, which has a “lovely” message scrawled on the back, was spotted on Balls Road, Oxton by a sharp-eyed motorist.

The message, which looks to be handwritten, is an attempt to spread love and positivity to people who may need it most.

A picture of the van was posted online by Heather Frances, 58, who was in the car with her 31-year-old son on Wednesday, April 6.

As they pulled up at traffic lights, the pair were able to get a clear view of the words and after reading the message, Heather felt the urge to take a picture and share online.

The message on the back of the van, read: “Today is a new day, a new start - no matter what happened yesterday

“What happened in the past is done with - it is the actions you take next that will shape the rest of your life.

“Asking for help is a sign of strength, it takes courage to admit you can’t solve everything on your own.”

Speaking to the ECHO, Heather, said: “I just read it and I thought people suffer so much with their mental health.

“I thought it was a really nice thing and you just don’t know, somebody could have read that and re-evaluated.

“I think the way it was written because it was handwritten, that kind of caught my eye and my son was with me and he said to himself ‘that’s nice isn’t it?’

“You just don’t know who could be behind that van and they may have just needed to hear that message.

“Usually people who suffer with mental health don't tell anybody so I just thought it was really nice.

“It sounds as though it’s a lady who drives that van, I’m not sure but a couple of people have commented saying ‘she’s my neighbour’. Whoever it is, they’re a good person.”

Heather’s post made quite an impression online, notching up hundreds of likes and many positive and heartwarming comments.

One person commented: “I seen this van the other day. Isn’t it so lovely! I’d love to know the owner x”

Another said: “My lovely mum’s neighbour. She’s always doing positive things. Lovely lady.”

A third added: “Love this and if it only helps one person the message got through.

A fourth commented: “Whoever did this is a good person.”
