Today police have confirmed that a handgun was believed to have been used in the incident, which left locals shocked.
Neighbours said around 10 gun shots were fired with many people assuming it was late night fireworks before they realised what had happened.
Today a local man who wished to stay anonymous said: "I know that there is a real sense of concern amongst locals. A lot of decent families live in this area and people know that anything can happen when you have kids firing guns in the street."
On Wednesday a mum told the ECHO that her son was left distressed by the shooting on her doorstep.
She said: "If I gave my name the house would be targeted. We're hard working, we just want to live day to day and be ourselves."
Today police have said they are still working to find those responsible for the shooting that caused so much alarm in the area.
Speaking on Wednesday Detective chief inspector Matt Smith of the firearms investigation team said: “We are in the early stages of an investigation into the incident in Litherland last night and we’re keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with any information.
“Whether you saw or heard the incident or anyone making off, check your CCTV, dashcam or other devices and come forward.
“It initially appears that this was a targeted attack, which thankfully didn’t result in anyone being injured.
“To fire a gun in a residential area is extremely reckless and could have led to tragedy, so if you know anything, please tell us and we’ll take action to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
