Handful of new coronavirus cases and deaths in Bristol

The number of coronavirus cases in Bristol is edging closer to 700, with 681 positive tests recorded in the latest figures.

Official daily statistics released by the government today (Thursday, May 14) show that cases in Bristol have increased by two compared to Wednesday.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Gloucestershire rose from 392 to 395, while North Somerset has seen cases rise from 323 to 325.

The number of cases in Bath and North East Somerset stayed the same, at 225.

Figures are accurate as of 9am this morning, and only account for cases which have been confirmed via laboratory testing.

Separate statistics show that University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust recorded one coronavirus-related death yesterday (May 11), and North Bristol NHS Trust did not record any.

The data table had previously recorded no deaths for either trust on May 11, but this has since been amended following verification to record one death at each trust on that day.

No deaths had previously been listed on the table for May 12, but this has also been updated and the table is now showing three deaths at University Hospitals trust on that date.

In the UK, 233,151 people have now tested positive for coronavirus, which is a daily increase of 3,446.

Of those, 33,614 people have died, which is 428 more than Wednesday's figure.

Across the South West region there are now 7,187 known cases, up from 7,155 the previous day.
