'Handball rule must be different' - Nottingham Forest fans fume over Arter stunner in Fulham defeat

Nottingham Forest fans are not happy with Fulham's goal at the City Ground this evening.

Harry Arter put Fulham into the lead four minutes into first-half stoppage time, scoring with a superb strike from long-range, and it proved to be the winner.

At first glance, it seemed the Reds could have little to complain about as the former Bournemouth midfielder struck one into Brice Samba's top corner.

But Joe Worrall and Ben Watson, who were in close proximity, were outraged.

The replay showed Arter handled the ball as he climbed back to his feet before finding the net but referee Robert Jones didn't see it.

Had VAR been in place, like it is in the Premier League, the goal would more than likely have been ruled out.

But with the technology yet to be implemented in the Championship, the goal stood and Forest found themselves behind.

Fans are not happy about that tonight. Here's what they have said on social media.

The result means Cardiff and Derby in sixth and seventh respectively will have the chance to close the gap on Forest in their games across Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Forest are four points ahead of the Bluebirds and seven ahead of their East Midlands rivals as things stand.
