Han-Noah Massengo reveals why he chose to sign for Bristol City from Monaco

Bristol City have completed the signing of Han-Noah Massengo to seal one of the most exciting captures for many years at the club.

The Monaco central defensive midfielder who is just 18 years old but has already made three starts in the Champions League signs for the Robins for an undisclosed fee.

Reports in France have suggested a transfer of around £7m however according to our sources, that is not correct.

The hugely exciting teenager signs a four year deal with Bristol City and will join up with the Robins players

Massengo was flown into Bristol at the weekend once a deal with the Ligue One side had been thrashed out and Steve Lansdown explained in a radio interview how the club were close to wrapping up a deal for the gifted midfielder.

The France U18 player played against the Bristol City academy back in the summer of 2018 and now will feature for the Robins.

As head coach Lee Johnson explained at the weekend: the club will be careful with the young player but Johnson is looking forward to the chance of polishing a 'diamond'.

Johnson told the official club website: “I believe this signing is a real sign of our reputation spreading that a young talent like Han-Noah is willing to join Bristol City and he sees his progression and his future here.

“I’m very excited to work with him and of course he is young, he has a lot to learn but he has the raw potential to be anything he wants. I believe he can go to the very top of the game.”

The new recruit has had his say too.

“I feel happy to be here,” Massengo told the club website. “I think it’s a good project and I want to be a part of this project, so I’m very happy.

“It’s a very good experience, the Champions League has helped me to see the top as a football player. Every player in the Champions League wants to play there again and again because it is the top [level].”

“I want the team and I hope for Bristol City fans that we will be a Premier League club next season. It must be our ambition.”

The signing starts an exciting week for Bristol City fans with more possible signings on the radar including a new striker.
