Hamza bin Laden latest: Saudi Arabia revokes citizenship of Osama bin Laden's son after US offers $1m bounty

Saudi Arabia has revoked the citizenship of Hamza bin Laden, the son of the late al Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

The news was announced on Friday in an order on Saudi Arabia's official gazette.

It comes after the US government offered a $1 million (£754,000) reward for information leading to his capture.

Bin Laden's son is said to be a leader of terrorist group al-Qaida and was named a “specially designated global terrorist” in January 2017.

Al-Qaida carried out the September 11 attacks in the US. Almost 3,000 people were killed in the attacks.

Hamza Bin Laden has previously released audio and video messages calling for attacks against the US and its allies.

Last year, he urged citizens of Saudi Arabia to prepare for jihad against their monarchs.

According to the BBC, he is married to the daughter of Mohammed Atta, one of the September 11 plane hijackers.

Hamza Bin Laden’s current location is unknown.

His father was killed in a US military raid in Pakistan in 2011.
