Hampstead Heath bather drowned after heart attack, inquest hears

"Doting father": architect Christopher Slamon's body was found by police divers on Monday

An architect drowned in the Hampstead Heath bathing ponds after suffering a heart attack during a morning swim with friends, an inquest heard.

Father of two Christopher Slamon, 54, was doing laps of the men’s pond when he sank to the bottom on June 1.

Friend James Dawson said he left before Mr Slamon got out of the water and raised the alarm that afternoon when he could not get hold of him, St Pancras coroner’s court heard.

His body was recovered on June 3.

A pathologist said Mr Slamon had high blood pressure and diseased arteries.

Assistant coroner Jonathan Stevens made a finding of accidental death.
