'Hammered' - Grant McCann fears Leeds United visit to Hull City

‘Hammered’ is how Grant McCann described Hull City’s fate when they face Leeds United on Saturday if they repeat last night’s performance.

The Tigers went down 1-0 at home to relegation battlers Barnsley on Wednesday evening, their ninth match without a win since New Year’s Day in the Championship.

The Whites head to KCOM Stadium on Saturday for a lunchtime kick-off with the two sides at opposite ends of the form table.

Despite scraping through their last three matches with 1-0 wins, United are building another unbeaten run at a crucial time, following a challenging January.

McCann faced the media after Wednesday evening’s loss and expressed his fears about what may lay ahead for Hull on Saturday.

“We’ve got a very, very tough game on Saturday. One of the best teams in the league are coming here,” said McCann.

“If we perform like we did (against Barnsley) then we’ll get hammered. That’s exactly what I’ve told the group.

“We need to roll our sleeves up now, do it for themselves, do it for their families, do it for this football club. They need to start taking responsibility and that’s everyone.”
