Hammer blow for St Mirren as captain Kyle Magennis set for Hibs switch

St Mirren supporters have been dealt a late transfer window blow after the club accepted a bid for skipper Kyle Magennis.

The 22-year-old was set to make his long-awaited return from a cruciate ligament injury next week, with manager Jim Goodwin hoping to welcome him back to his match-day squad for action in the Betfred Cup.

Having rejected two bids from Hibs earlier this week, the clubs have now agreed a fee - believed to be six-figures - with the academy product set to link up with former manager Jack Ross in Leith.

The news comes with the Saints struggling on the park, currently sitting joint-bottom of the Premiership table and heading to Aberdeen tonight looking to avoid a sixth successive loss in a row.

The late timing of the move also leaves Goodwin very little breathing room to find a replacement, with the transfer window set to slam shut on Monday.
