Hamish and the Worldstoppers by Danny Wallace - review

Danny Wallace, Hamish and the Worldstoppers

I really enjoyed reading Hamish and the Worldstoppers because of all the funny characters and the interesting and intriguing plot. My favorite character is Alice, Hamish's friend from another school. At first her and Hamish are the only pause walkers (people who can move in between the pauses) you know about, but afterwards there is a whole army of them.

Hamish can walk in the pauses and he thinks that he is the only person who can until he finds out about the Pause Defence Force (PDF). The team consists of: Alice, the head; Buster, the muscles; Elliot, the brains; Venk, the err… um…; and Clover, the master of disguise and much more.

Within every pause, the creatures known as the worldstoppers come to terrorize the town, but of course no one knows, except for the PDF. At the end of the book there is a massive battle between the PDF and the worldstoppers. In the past, Hamish's Dad had been taken by the worldstoppers (or so he thinks), and after the battle he goes to save him, but it turns out that he is gone.

I really liked reading Hamish and the Worldstoppers and I was overjoyed when I heard that there is going to be a sequel. The illustations throughout the book by Jamie Littler bring it to life.
