Hamilton woman's 12ft sunflower tribute in memory of 22-year-old dog Sheba

A Hamilton woman was stunned when a sunflower tribute to her dog reached new heights – almost 13ft.

Karen Falconer’s beloved dog Sheba passed away last year and she decided to plant some flower seeds in her garden to remember her.

Sheba was a remarkable 22-years-old and was truly part of the family, so Karen wanted to make a special little area.

And the 52-year-old from Laighstonehall said she was absolutely stunned to see the height of the sunflower, claiming that it is now standing almost 13ft high.

Karen said: “We planted a bunch of seeds last year not really knowing what they were, and we were so surprised to see a almost 13ft sunflower appear this summer.

“We can’t believe it, there is another one but the flower isn’t actually out yet, but we are hoping it will be soon enough.”

Karen added: “The sunflower is so tall you can see the top of the flower from the main road and it’s all in memory of our wee dog Sheba.

“We had to use set of ladders to get up to it but now it’s even taller than the ladders.”
