Hamilton thumped in Ayrshire sun as Kilmarnock run out worthy winners

Hamilton head coach Brian Rice's quest for two wins on the spin continues after his side were convincingly turned over by Kilmarnock at rugby Park.

Goals in each half for Stevie Clarke's men saw them take something of a stroll in the Ayrshire sunshine towards three important points.

It was a first half for Hamilton to forget, by and large. It might have been the same line-up as from the win over Hearts, but it was a very different performance.

It took them 36 minutes to get a shot on target, and that was pretty much all they had to show for the first 45.

Killie, on the other hand, would probably have been kicking themselves that they weren't further ahead.

However they made up for that in the second half, very much at Hamilton's expense.

Brian Rice kept faith with the Hamilton line-up that beat Hearts last time out, while Killie boss Stevie Clarke made three changes. Alan Power, Chris Burke and Eamonn Brophy dropped out for Aaron Tshibola, Conor McAleny and Kris Boyd.

Kilmarnock started the better of the two teams and created a couple of half-chances that came to nothing.

However, they took the lead in some style after just five minutes when Youssouf Mululumbu played a superb ball from midfield that picked out Greg Taylor on the left side of the box, unmarked, and in so much space he looked surprised. Taylor put his foot through it, it smashed off the left post and past Gary Woods for his first professsional goal.

Sometimes you need to hold your hands up, folks, it was a terrific goal.

Hamilton fans had their hearts in their mouths in 12 minutes when keeper Gary Woods shouted for a cross, dropped it, and Lenny Sowah was forced into a challenge on Rory McKenzie, with home fans screaming for a penalty they didnt get.

Young Conor McAleny tried his luck from distance in 22 minutes, but his low shot was taken at the left corner by Woods.

Hamilton had a few flurries towards the end of the haff but the best they managed was in 36 minutes when Sowah's cross from the left was headed by George Oakley, but it was straight at Daniel Bachmann.

Killie got back into it and right on half-time Stephen O'Donnell broke down the right and a sweeping move then saw the ball played to McAleny, but his angled shot was blocked; it would have been virtually a carbon copy of the goal.

Killie doubled their lead in 56 minutes when Sowah swung out a lazy leg at McKenzie's cross from the right, KRis Boyd left it, and McAleny couldn't believe his luck as he had a simple finish at the back post.

They made it worse in 63 minutes when McKenzie played an easy enough ball through but it found Mulumbu unmarked and he finished well  in the bottom right corner.

Kilie nearly added a fourth moments after their third, but Woods saved well from Aaron Tshibola.

But they got their just rewards in 84 minutes when Chris Burke ran down the left and chipped over Woods into the right corner to make it 4-0.

And Killie added a wonder-goal fifth inside stoppage time when sub Mika Ndjoli let fly with a howitzer from the right flank that flew into the top left corner.
