‘Hamilton: The Exhibition’ to end its run sooner than planned

“Hamilton: The Exhibition” will end its run sooner than expected to avoid looming conflicts with a Bears game and the North Coast Music Festival.

The show at Chicago’s Northerly Island, a spinoff of the blockbuster stage musical, originally had been scheduled to run through Sept. 8. Organizers said Monday that it instead will shut down Aug. 25 after a five-month run.

The announcement from the Hamilton team cited conflicting events “that would complicate access to the exhibition and compromise the customer experience.” Among them: an Aug. 29 Bears game at nearby Soldier Field and the high-volume North Coast fest Aug. 30–Sept. 1, also on Northerly Island.

People who bought tickets to see the exhibition Aug. 26-Sept. 8 should expect automatic refunds.

Meanwhile, the “Hamilton” musical will be up and running through fall at the CIBC Theatre on its way to the previously announced Jan. 5 closing date.
