A Hamilton tattoo studio are raising money for mental health charities by donating profits from their work.
Cherry Pie Tattoo and Piercing in Quarry Street will be taking part in a ‘Semi-Colon Charity Day’ where they will be offering semi-colon tattoos all day on Friday, April 5.
They decided to donate the money to the Samaritans, Bipolar Scotland and The Moira Anderson Foundation, the three charities of their choice.
A semi-colon has become a symbol for mental health and suicide survival because a semicolon is used when an author could have chosen to end their sentence but decided not to.
Manager of the store Jennifer Constantine said: “We are offering semi colon tattoos all day. The money has either been donated to the Samaritans, Bipolar Scotland or The Moira Anderson Foundation.
The semi-colon has become a modern symbol for mental health and surviving suicide.
Jennifer added: “All the staff have donated their time to tattoo all day for free. The customers pay the charity directly via an online system.
“We have also got semi-colon jewellery for piericng with which is on offer all week.”
