Hamilton strengthen ahead of Rangers clash as former Motherwell winger signs on

Hamilton have moved to ease their crippling injury list with the signing of former Motherwell winger Nathan Thomas.

Accies hope to get international clearance to include the Englishman in their squad for Sunday’s trip to Rangers.

Brian Rice is without a number of key players, including Charlie Trafford, Kyle Munro, Jamie Hamilton and David Templeton, for the Ibrox clash.

Thomas has been a free agent since he left Sheffield United in the summer.

The 26-year-old, who made a handful of appearances for Motherwell in 2015, is now looking to make up for lost time.

Thomas admitted: “It has been a long few months.  “The last time I played was March.

“I have been off for longer than I wanted and I have been chapping at the bit.

“I was sitting on a Saturday watching the results coming in when I should have been playing and I think my missus has had enough of me as well and wanted me out and playing again.

“It has been a long time but it was about waiting for the right opportunity and project.

“I only found out about this interest on Wednesday and so the turnaround has been quick and I am delighted we got it over the line so quickly.”

Since his spell at Fir Park Thomas has had stints at Mansfield, Hartlepool and Sheffield United.

He spent most of his time at Bramall Lane out on loan at the likes of Notts County, Gillingham and Carlisle.

The wide man believes he can add more creativity and a cutting edge to Accies.

Thomas stated: “I am direct. I like to score and create goals. Those are my biggest attributes and hopefully I can do that here.

“I live to travel with the ball and get at people. I am quite dynamic with the ball and if I can replicate what I have done in the past here then I could have a good time.”

Hamilton are still looking to add a defender.
